Welcome to another issue of the Team Spotlight series at LayerX 🚀
In this series, we delve into the stories, experiences, and perspectives of the incredible people that make LayerX. Today, we get to chat with Vitor Hugo, Frontend Developer at LayerX, and the person responsible for bringing our product interfaces to life!
Like most developers, my day starts with a cup of coffee. Then I clean up my setup and the desk I'm working at. Fueled up and organized, it's time to get to work.
As a front-end developer, my job is to transform the company's vision, translated into interfaces by the design team, into something that users can use satisfactorily. At the same time, I must deliver quality code that can be easily maintained.
Sometimes the work is challenging, but all the effort is rewarded after seeing everything in production and receiving positive feedback from the community.
Freedom and openness. LayerX is a company that believes in the potential of its employees and gives them the freedom to do their job to the best of their ability, while at the same time being open to listening to suggestions and ideas from everyone in the team.
I think it's the barrier to entry for new users. Unlike web2 projects, web3 projects have a difficulty that is inherent to the technology itself, which is the level of knowledge that a new user needs to have in order to be able to use the projects safely and satisfactorily.
This difficulty is something that I, as a front-end developer, always try to keep in mind when working. I often ask myself “How can I make this functionality more useful to the user? How can I make it easier for them to understand?” It's by asking myself these questions that I'm able to make suggestions for improvements and new features in the projects I work on.
BEPRO. It was the first crypto project I worked on and dedicated a good part of my career to.
But one that helped me a lot in the beginning and taught me a lot of what I know about the basics of web3 development was LearnWeb3.io.
Social media, following the projects' profiles and also through the Discord servers of each project.
Don't try to learn everything at once, as there are many concepts that may need more time to learn. So start with the basics, understand how blockchains work, what components are needed for them to work, what a smart contract is and how to develop one, how to integrate it with a back-end or front-end application and how to make it work.
Then you'll be able to see what you're best at and focus on that.
Youtube, documentation and GitHub. Learning from other people's code is one of the best ways to learn.
In your opinion, what are the key opportunities and challenges for web3 development in the future?
I believe it's how to use artificial intelligence to boost the results of Web3 projects. The topic has been on the rise lately and is evolving more and more. Finding a way to use artificial intelligence together with blockchain could be the differentiator for many projects in the future.
There is always something new to learn and always a new challenge to solve. This is something that motivates me and makes me leave my comfort zone frequently.
Stay tuned, we are focused and working to deliver the best for you.
LayerX connects web3 developers and organizations through hackathons and task-based work, bringing together talent and opportunities to create innovative solutions.
Our hackathon platform, TAIKAI, and Task Marketplace at Bepro empower developers to showcase their skills and earn rewards. Don’t forget to join our community and say hello on Discord!
