Highlights from the 2024 LayerX Team Retreat

July started off in a special way at LayerX!

With the LayerX anniversary approaching and the arrival of summer, everything was perfectly aligned for the team to gather in person and enjoy some time together.

And that's exactly what we did, enjoying two wonderful days in the charming village of Ribeira de Pena in northern Portugal.

This article reflects on the time we spent together and the incredible moments we shared as a team.

At LayerX, our fully remote setup has allowed us to build a multicultural team and bring together unique perspectives and skills from across the globe.

While it's true that working remotely offers unparalleled flexibility, it's also true that there is something truly special about coming together in person.

LayerX has team members spread across six countries on three continents, and this team retreat provided us with the rare opportunity to meet face-to-face.

Some of us had been together before, but many were meeting in person for the first time, and this retreat allowed us to put faces to names, and form deeper connections beyond our virtual interactions.

Over the course of two days, we indulged in incredible local food and engaged in many team-building activities that will certainly remain in our minds for a long time.

From sliding on one of Europe’s longest zip lines to bungee jumping, we experienced many thrills not for the faint of heart. 

We even had a paintball match where our CEO, despite being shot multiple times, managed to capture the victory flag, making the entire match a bit contentious 🤔 But honestly, if that’s not a sign of resilience, I don’t know what is!

There was also time to host brainstorming and strategy sessions to plan the second semester of 2024, which sparked new ideas and set new goals for our team.

As our retreat came to an end, we left Ribeira de Pena with a fresh sense of team spirit and excitement for the coming quarters. Our time together strengthened our bonds and reminded us of our shared goals, making us ready to tackle the challenges ahead for LayerX.
