Our team recently returned from Brussels, and right after unpacking, we couldn't wait to share everything we learned at ETHCC 7!
Here are some key takeaways and trends that marked the event and we believe will steer the direction of web3 in the near future.
EthCC is the largest annual European Ethereum event, focused on technology and community.
This year’s edition was hosted in Brussels, Belgium, over four days, where developers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and enthusiasts within the Ethereum and broader blockchain community had the chance to connect and collaborate.
EthCC 7 maintained its community-driven spirit, with over 350 speakers and 5,000 attendees, highlighting its growth and the rising interest in Ethereum technologies.
However, the increase in side events, a new location, and a less intuitive venue led to lower attendance at the main talks and events.
Among the +500 side events, the event provided extensive networking opportunities and our team had the chance to meet notable projects and companies within the blockchain ecosystem.
The event tracked leading trends such as scaling solutions, a continuous focus on user experience (UX), mid-layer infrastructure development, and the impact of venture deals on technological progress.
The ecosystem is also increasingly focusing on regulatory frameworks, decentralized finance (DeFi), the integration of real-world assets (RWAs) in blockchain and DePIN.
The attendees' feedback highlighted the value of the knowledge shared and the community-focused atmosphere, even though the high number of side events was a challenge for maintaining centralized participation and cohesiveness throughout the main event.
The LayerX team thoroughly enjoyed the cultural richness of Brussels, indulging in Belgian cuisine and exploring local breweries 🍻
A memorable moment involved unexpected rain, leading to impromptu indoor gatherings and shared laughter about how liquidity always seems to follow us, recalling our experience in Dubai for Token2049 where we experienced the greatest storm in the last 50 years.
Despite the weather, the team's spirits remained high, and these unplanned moments created good memories and made the trip one to remember.
Did you also attend EthCC 7? What stood out to you?
We'd love to hear your perspective, so drop us a line X and share your experiences!
